On the Salvatorberg stands the church of the same name, with former monastery buildings. A chapel was built here in the early Middle Ages, and later a Benedictine monastery, completed in 1005. After several renovations, the church and monastery fell into disrepair until they became municipal property. In 1883, city architect Joseph Laurent reconstructed the church, whose most valuable piece is a Madonna from 1482. After destruction in the Second World War, it was rebuilt, and since 2012, the Aachen Christian Social Welfare Association has occupied the new monastery building.

This - quite impressive - church on the mountain of the same name was not dedicated to one of the many people we honor as blessed or saints and ask for their intercession with God, but to Jesus Christ, the Son of God incarnate, redeemer and savior ("Saint Salvator" ), consecrated.
