There is a sign on the right in front of the entrance gate to the Burggarten, which, among other things, states the opening times. In winter, these are between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and during summer time, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The Burggarten is a small park located where Salzwedel Castle used to stand. The center of the castle garden is the castle keep, keep or castle tower. It is in really good condition, except for the roof. There is also a large memorial hall in honor of those who died in World War I.

There are always benches to be found along the circular path, from which you can take in the Burggarten in peace and quiet.

Bergfried, castle keep or also called castle tower.

Here in the castle garden is the still 24 m high keep, which also belonged to the lowland castle of Salzwedel, as did the remains of the defensive wall, the St. Anne's chapel and the moat.

The keep probably used to have a pitched roof. It also has a high entrance at a height of 12 m.

Partly ivy rises up on the tower. All around the tower, on the circular paths in the Burggarten, there are benches from which you have a great view of the old keep.

In the Burggarten there are these old trees, which are really worth seeing. Without the overgrown giant trees, the Burggarten would certainly only be half as beautiful.
