The Mariensäule in Bozen was erected in 1909 and serves as a monument in memory of the devastating cholera epidemic that plagued the city and its surroundings in the summer of 1836. The monument was created by the well-known South Tyrolean sculptor Andrä Kompatscher (also Andreas Kompatscher) and is located in Marienpark directly in front of the Goethe School.
