The Pfaffensee is the oldest of the three reservoirs, built in 1566 and filled by damming the water from the Glems. The water was channeled through the 873 meter long Christoph tunnel via the Heslach waterfalls into the Nesenbach, so that the citizens of Stuttgart could be supplied with water.
