    Very busy at the weekend.
Lounger and playground as well as a nice cafe and a fantastic view awaits the hiker.

The really very beautiful and beautifully situated castle was built by the representative joyful, or rather "ostentatious" Duke Carl Eugen, or by his beggar Württemberg country children. Almost more elaborate were the gardens, labyrinths, pleasure lakes, orangeries, which were built in addition and almost completely disappeared. Already 6 years after completion he was tired of it and moved on to Hohenheim Castle, where he had his next prototype built. Incidentally, his country children were also allowed to build the new castle in Stuttgart. He wanted so much to play with the big kids, like the kings of France or England.

Sublime and majestic at the gates of Stuttgart. Interesting the line of sight far down to Ludwigsburg Castle.

Rococo castle "Solitude" (loneliness) in a wonderful location.
The last big festival was held here in 1782, then the decline (until the renovation in more recent times) could not be stopped.

    Solitude Palace:
The Solitude Palace (from French solitude, 'solitude', but pronunciation [ˈsɔlity: d]) was built between 1763 and 1769 by Johann Friedrich Weyhing and Philippe de La Guêpière as a hunting and representation palace under Duke Carl Eugen von Württemberg.

In 1858 “die Solitude” became part of the municipality of Gerlingen (Württemberg). Solitude was not incorporated into the city of Stuttgart until April 1, 1942. The Solitude area has been part of the Stuttgart-West district of Stuttgart since 1956. The palace or the Hermitage Solitude lies on a long ridge between the cities of Leonberg, Gerlingen and the Stuttgart districts of Weilimdorf and Botnang. Built directly on the edge of its northern slope, it offers a view to the north of the Württemberg lowlands in the direction of Ludwigsburg.

the courtyard of the former hunting and representative castle of Duke Carl Eugen von Württemberg can be walked on all round. The meadow in front invites you to linger with a great view

Once the hunting lodge of the dukes of Württemberg and later kings. Nearby there are still parts of the former huge deer enclosure, as well as the excursion destination Bärenschlössle can be reached in a 30-minute walk, to the birch head (Monte Scherbelino) about 40 minutes. If you stand in the central arch of the castle you can see the former 13 km long Solitude Hall, which from 1768 was the direct and straight connection to the castle and the Ludwigsburg residence and was reserved for the king alone.
