Keym look
You have climbed 53 of 10b steps so far. Now you can take a breather and enjoy the Keym view. Here you are standing on an approximately 80 m high rock, which was largely created by the sliding of rock masses. The Glan, as innocent as he seems from up here, played a part in this.
The last major rockfall occurred in 2005.
The path below the rock had to be closed forever. Many have that
Meisenheimer is very sorry. That's why the former mayor Werner Keym had this viewing point built as compensation, so to speak. Now everyone can at least enjoy the beautiful view from here.
The rock is something special, which is why it was placed under nature protection in 1992. These are rocks from the Jeckenbacher layers of the Unterrotlegen, which were formed around 296-292
Mill. The layers consist of alternating layers of sandstone, siltstone and mudstone.
Rare fossils have been found in some rock layers, such as the prehistoric shark Xenacanthus Meisenheimensis, which is now exhibited in the GEOSKOP environmental museum at Lichtenberg Castle near Kusel.
