The Botanical Garden slopes towards the rocks and waterfall like a church nave towards the chancel. The inner sanctum is the alpine garden. It houses plants from the Alps, Pyrenees, Caucasus, North America, and the Himalayas. However, unlike in the true high mountains, the waterfall remains dry during the winter.

Several species are very rare and cannot be found in any garden center, for example, certain soldanellas and pasque flowers. There is almost always something in bloom. In the middle of winter, the gorse is covered in yellow blossoms.

The highlights of the alpine pond are located along its banks: a water larch (Metasequoia) on the left and a bald cypress (Taxodium) on the right. Both are giants, their needles turning a rusty brown in autumn before they fall off. The difference: the needles of the Metasequoia grow directly opposite each other, while those of the Taxodium alternate.

Tip: There's a bench under the bald cypress with a view of the pond.
