Since 2019, there has been a well-developed, approximately 1.3 km long cycle route along the new development "Pergolenviertel" in Hamburg-Nord, from Sengelmannstraße in the north to the Stadtpark in the south. The city announced early on that it intended to build this section of Veloroute 5 according to the standards of an urban cycle superhighway. Cyclists also pass under two bridges under Jahnring (Ring 2) and Hebebrandstraße, both busy main roads. These bridges were originally built so that the planned urban motorway could pass under them without any intersections. Now, cyclists on the cycle route benefit from this: no waiting at traffic lights
and no conflicts with car traffic. If you cycle briskly, you can cover the entire route in barely four minutes. The path is four meters wide and paved, making it easy to overtake other cyclists. A very good idea and a great route.hamburg.adfc.de/artikel/fast-ein-radschnellweg-neuer-abschnitt-der-veloroute-5-beim-pergolenviertel
