The entire Alster Valley is a feast for the eyes. Along the shore you can go hiking, cycling or strolling. Or you can choose to kayak across the water. No matter how you get around, something nicer than the Alster couldn't happen to Hamburg.
The Alstertal is a paradise for hikers and bike tourists and runs through the districts of Fuhlsbüttel, Hummelsbüttel, Wellingsbüttel, Poppenbüttel, Lemsahl-Mellingstedt, Bergstedt and Wohldorf-Ohlstedt. The Alster Valley is part of the Alster hiking trail. In Hamburg, this runs parallel to the course of the river. On the larger tributaries, the Mellingbek, the Saselbek and the Ammersbek, idyllic cycling and hiking trails lead to other parts of the city.

I came here on a tour.
From the S Bahn station Poppenbüttel along the Alster on the Alsterwanderweg to the Aussenalster.
After a short break (my nine-year-old son was present) on to the Inner Alster. My tip: avoid Sundays and holidays - it is then very busy with many other cyclists, joggers and walkers.

Beautiful on the Alster. In summer, the meadow invites you to picnic.
