Alt-Hemmingen is a sympathetic "heap" of villages, not strictly lined up along the village street, but rather off the beaten track and colorfully thrown together. The old town center can only be reached on foot or by bicycle.
In the center is the old fortified chapel, which was probably built around 1400. Behind the church is an old cross stone from the 15th century, from which a ribbon with the names of those who died in World War II stretches to the memorial for those who died in World War I. A - in my opinion - very successful design that connects the events of the times, but also makes the different points of view clear, because the pathos of World War I is difficult for us to understand today.
In the village you will find a Palatinate lion carrying a sign with Wittelsbach diamonds - how did he get to Hemmingen?
The "goose march" (nomen est omen - you can literally go back in time) leads north out of the village center to meadow orchards and sheep - an idyll.

The power vacuum created by the destruction of Wilkenburg Castle around 1400 prompted the farmers to build a fortified chapel here. Remains of the castle were used for this purpose.
The chapel still stands in the middle of old farms, most of which are now used as dwellings. Exploring this historic part of Hemmingen is well worth it. Going north along the single file is also recommended because of the rural idyll there with sheep pastures, gardens and orchards on the outskirts of the town of Hemmingen.

A nice little village center in the middle of which is the chapel.
