On the Leine island of Döhren there was a water mill that was first mentioned in 1402. From 1667 onwards the river was regulated by a weir. After 1868, the Döhren wool washing and combing works were built in several construction phases and operated until 1972. In the 1980s, after the factory was demolished, the housing association Neue Heimat built an organically shaped residential complex.
