Nestled in the romantic Lockwitz Valley and surrounded by the mountain ranges of the eastern Ore Mountains and the richly wooded foothills of the Ore Mountains, there is Kreischa, the starting point and destination of today's hike.
Kreischa can look back on a long and eventful history. It was first mentioned in the 13th century. The municipality with its 15 districts now has over 4,400 inhabitants and is very popular as a place to live and work.
The largest employers in the region are the Kliniken Bavaria in Kreischa, which are among the largest rehabilitation centers in Germany and can look after up to 1,000 patients.
