It is a block of quartzite supporting a twisted propeller, next to which is a wooden cross with the inscription "For the American Airmen". It was dedicated in 1947 to commemorate the tragic accident that killed eight American airmen, whose two Bierset planes collided on April 6, 1945 in the fog of World War II.

The memorial consists of a block of quartzite supporting a twisted 3-bladed aircraft propeller. It commemorates the death of 8 occupants in two C-47 transport planes that became disoriented in the fog and collided on April 6, 1945.
