In summer, the Polleur stream is more of a small stream.

It is wonderful to walk along the Polleur. A mix of foundl, forest and root paths follow each other...

The headwaters of the Poleûr stream are in the fens of the same name. From Hockai, the Poleûr stream is called Hoëgne. Source: Wikipedia

The water from the peatlands is acidic and contains few minerals, which means that fish and flowering plants are absent. A few algae and mosses as well as some small invertebrates can survive in the water. The water also carries away plant-based organic compounds (saponins and unsaturated fatty acids), which form foam when the water moves. The "oil film" on parts of the soil is also biological and does not indicate environmental pollution.

The Polleurbach contains sand, gravel and large blocks of quartzite that have reached the bottom and sides of the stream as a result of glacial and post-glacial soil flow. Today, only spring floods move sedimentary components. Small flint fragments were also found among the rock fragments of the sliding slope. They come from the Venn plateau, where in various places there are still traces of an original covering of flint-bearing chalk limestone.
