The Ortmans-Hauzeur fountain in Verviers, erected in memory of the mayor of the same name who oversaw the implementation of the water supply that saved the industry in Verviers from ruin thanks to the construction of a dam in 1892 on the river Gileppe.

It occupies the entire side of a building on the corner of rue des Raines and rue des Alliés, making it one of the largest if not the largest fountains in Belgium. At the bottom of the monument is a water staircase whose sides are decorated with pedestals in inverted arches on which are placed vases decorated with a laurel wreath. At the top of this staircase, which ends in a rocky mass, is a plinth decorated with outgoing volutes on which is placed the bust of the mayor, partly recessed in a niche surrounded by four columns.

The columns support a curved pediment with lateral projections and an interrupted base that houses an allegory resting by a lion. A balustrade has been placed at the top of the monument. On each outside of the columns, a bas-relief depicting children, a memorial plaque and a vase on reeds complete the monumental monument.

The Ortmans Fountain dates from 1893 and is the work of
Clement Vivroux. The fountain measures no less than 15 by 13 meters, making it the largest wall fountain in our country
