The Ludwigswoog was once part of the timber rafting on the Legelbach. It was built in 1831. Timber rafting in the Pfälzerwald was operated until the late 19th century. The special architectural feature is a wide overflow, over which the logs washed into the Woog were diverted downstream during timber rafting events.

The exceptionally long woog is still filled with water today. The unusual original overflow is particularly well preserved. It served to divert the logs. An existing monk as a drainage structure for the water is connected to the dam by a wooden walkway. The stowage device in the monk consists of visible wooden planks with a grille over them.
