The Tiergarten is located on the right bank of the Mulde, directly opposite Dessau city centre. Not to be confused with the zoo. Animals are kept in enclosures in the zoo in Dessau-Ziebigk. There are no enclosures in the Tiergarten. But there are still animals. That is why part of the zoo is also a nature reserve. Originally, the zoo was the hunting ground of the Dessau princes. Hence the name. Today it is a piece of nature. The main entrance to the Tiergarten is formed by the eye-catching Tiergarten Bridge, popularly known as the "egg cutter". Why? Because the bridge looks the same.
