Ulm Central Library (Stadtbibliothek Ulm)

The city library, founded in 1516, is Ulm's oldest public cultural institution. The current central library, opened in 2004, is located in the heart of the old town. The pyramid-shaped glass building was designed by the German architect and sculptor Gottfried Böhm. The central library also houses a large children's library. The forecourt on the west side of the building is designed in the shape of an ancient theater. Its steps invite you to linger - and to read.

Architecturally magnificent glass building modeled on the shape of a mountain crystal, which houses the city library. Also great in contrast to the historical building of the town hall next to it.

The city library is one of the few modern buildings, where otherwise predominantly medieval buildings characterize the cityscape. The 35 m high pyramid building was opened in 2004.
