There are four different villages on Ameland. From east to west these are: Buren, Nes, Ballum and Hollum.

Hollum with its approximately 1,275 inhabitants is the largest town and lies between the mud flats and the dunes and is surrounded by pastureland.

From Hollum, our round went in the direction of Kerkstraat

Getting to know HOLLUM a little:

Captain's houses (oldest from 1516 with smoke stains in the masonry), corn and mustard mill with purchase of ground mustard seeds for the production of the famous Ameland mustard soup.

She was happy to give us the recipe.

And here and there lovingly prepared houses and gardens

After almost 8 1/2 hours by car, the ferry took us to Ameland, one of the West Frisian islands in the North Sea. A little movement was urgently needed!

NES with a docking station has a beautiful old town center with old captains' houses, a village and bell tower made of small yellow stones and many pubs

The gondola lift (Hündlebahn €19 per person) brought us comfortably up (from 770m to 1050m). We kept the summit cross on the Hündlekopf top right for the way back. We walked on a panoramic path over to the Obere Hündlealpe (1070m), Hochsiedelalpe (1074m), on a trail over a wide meadow ridge, steeply

The Gunzesried valley is a very quiet valley by Oberallgäu standards. No particularly spectacular peaks, instead grass mountains, alpine meadows, alpine huts and the long Nagelfluh chain. And in the middle of the valley near Gunzesried Säge a wild and romantic ravine awaited us.

      We "abandoned" our adult

On my day off, the "Lion Path: Orchid Path" was on the agenda. We parked at Hexensattel and were lucky; hardly frequented on Mondays.

The steady climb wasn't strenuous as there was plenty of time to catch your breath. Roam into the distance, marvel at several species of orchids in full bloom, pause and

My mountain forest: Birds chirping, soft forest floor, a deer that me! observed, rays of sunshine through the lush green leaves, rooted trees between rocks.....back on a small path through a colorful flower meadow, a startled rabbit in currant bushes, "my" Walkstetter lime tree (hugs not possible

On the way to the Grünenberg beer garden, we walked a very short lap on the high plateau near Oberböhringen. A detour to the Hausener Wand with a sensational view. This round can be changed at will, depending on your mood.

It started in Eybach near Geislingen, past the oil mill into the wild and romantic Felsental.... up, up, up 💪🏼

Everywhere moss-covered, transverse tree trunks and at the end of the rocky valley two iron stairs. Once at the top, a strong scent of rapeseed and lilacs filled our nostrils. We stayed at

Joined again this year. Hardly any participants, which was very convenient for us. We didn't care about the running time, what was more important was the beautiful area and the delicious reward (Allinsen with spaetzle) afterwards.
