Salt production in Halle dates back to the Bronze Age. The surviving buildings show how the salt was extracted. Schausieden festivals take place here every year. The origins of the buildings date back to 1719 to 1721. The small narrow-gauge railway next to the museum brought the required brown coal to the factory for boiling.
