Halle Cathedral was built between 1271 and 1330 as a monastery church for the Dominican monastery. The three-aisled hall church is the oldest church still preserved in the old town. According to the rules of the mendicant order, a tower, elaborate decorations and a transept were dispensed with. Inside the church, the 18 pillar figures and the sandstone pulpit from 1526 are particularly noteworthy. Since the city was never a diocese, the church is not strictly speaking a cathedral.
