The Briesnitz residential estate is one of the most important testimonies to the history of the settlement and urban expansion in Dresden at the beginning of the 20th century, and an example of cooperative building. In a scenic location on the Hammerberg above the left bank of the Elbe west of Dresden, near the old village of Briesnitz and the adjoining Zschonergrund, a settlement of single-family houses and multi-storey apartments based on the design ideas of the garden city complexes was built in several construction phases from 1912 to 1935.

There are a few newer houses at the end of the settlement, the possibility of blackout is striking. These are not the usual shutters, but these shutters can be slid in front of the window on a rail. (Haven't seen this anywhere before.)
