The monument, donated by Cornelius Wilhelm von Heyl zu Herrnsheim, was erected on Rheintorplatz on September 2, 1890 and moved to what was then the Bismarck complex (today the Lutherring) in the 1930s. After the end of the Second World War it was dismantled and stored in the Worms Museum, where it stood in the museum courtyard.[2]
From 2013 onwards, consideration was given to whether and where the monument could be re-erected. It was also suggested that it be built on Bebelstrasse at the entrance to the former Kiautschau workers' settlement.[3] On the occasion of Bismarck's 200th birthday, the Worms historian and city councilor Jörg Koch successfully initiated the reconstruction of the Bismarck bust[4], which was then inaugurated in the park of the Kunsthaus Heylshof on September 12, 2015 in coordination with the Lower Monuments Authority, the city of Worms and the Worms Antiquities Association became.
