The restaurant 't Schipke aan de Nete is located in one of the most beautiful and enchanting places on the river Nete, between Berlaar and Herenthout. This old inn has been operating since 1900 amidst lush, unspoiled nature. Especially hikers, cyclists and fishermen often pass here to take a break and have a drink in the tavern.

Around 1900, 't Schipke combined the function of a ferry, inn and farm. Director Roland Verhavert made recordings for the film "Pallieter" and many artists found inspiration on the banks of the Grote Nete. In 2021, the surroundings of 't Schipke still have plenty of charm. The proximity of the Kruiskensberg and the Grote Nete make this neighborhood a very pleasant walking area, only it is a bit unfortunate that the charming wooden bridge which was replaced in 2014 by the not so beautiful temporary Bailey bridge has still not been replaced. We miss the charm of the old bridge !!!
