The Boshuizerbergen is a 200 hectare area with beautiful nature. The nature reserve northeast of Venray is known for its extensive sand drifts and unique juniper berries.
The area is very unique. The area changes from southwest to northeast. In the southwest, right next to a railway line and surrounded by pine forest, lies the juniper forest, the largest in the southern Netherlands. The oldest junipers are no less than 115 years old. In 1931 this area was threatened with reclamation, but Het Limburgs Landschap set up a foundation to preserve this unique area with its bizarre silhouettes of juniper trees.
