A 7.3 km long hiking route leads through the beautiful area of the Reindersmeer, which was created by sand digging. Today it is part of the National Park De Maasduinen and definitely worth a visit. The route can also be shortened by taking a 100 m long train ferry (self-service!) Across the lake. Then you are already back after 4.3 km.

It's fun to drive across the lake with this little ferry. You have to lend a hand and are often in company with others. There is always a good mood there and people are relaxed.

After half the way around the Reindersmeer you can cross the lake by means of a train ferry (which you have to serve yourself). A fabulous experience!

Currently there is not enough water in the lake, so the ferry is a bit on the way in and is difficult to start.

The ferry works by cable, on which you can pull yourself (and others) to the other bank by self-service across a narrowness between the two lakes that together form the Reindersmeer. It is advisable to bring gardening gloves with you. Although the rope is wet and therefore cool, it is precisely because of this that the traces of the crossing only become noticeable on the hands afterwards.

If you want to protect your hands, you should bring some gloves.
