An omitted section of Maasketting has been added, with a visit to Hernen. A beautiful village with an original castle, which has remained well-preserved.

Started reasonably early with another beautiful route from the Maasketting. Started at pumping station Van Citters 1, a bit along a dike and further along the Maas. A short stretch through Niftrik where we paid a visit to the church. A little further on along the Maas again, which unfortunately was only

Hike through the woods near Dorst, luckily lots of shade and beautiful winding paths. Many ponds, most of which were dry. The Galloway cattle had also sought shade on a beautiful path between two ponds. All in all, despite the heat, a beautiful hike.

Wandeling Hedelse bovenwaard en verder naar Irenebrug
Beste Hans

Today to the Hedelse bovenwaard, our annual walk. To our surprise, we encountered signs from Natuurmonumenten with no access. But we just continued to the ford and on with a lovely walk. Further on we walked towards the Hedelse bridge. Unfortunately the benches were already occupied so we had our lunch by the water.

Towards Alem, along the Maas to stay out of the sun a bit. At the marina de Maas we took an "elephant path" because there were some fallen trees on the path. Had lunch at the marina and from there back towards Kerkdriel... via the "elephant path".

A bike ride with a strong breeze to Tiel and via the ferry to the other side. Unfortunately, the dike is also closed there, so the route has become a bit longer. Then via the bridge at Beneden-Leeuwen towards Heerewaarden where we enjoyed a cup of coffee with 🍰 at the campsite.

Started later than we are used to. Parked our car at the church, soon out of the village immediately over a beautiful path, where at a corner a pony stood on a leash, we walked past it and it was as if it was laughing at us. A while further the route indicated left, we went along a cornfield until we

Round Zaltbommel, it was still quite warm. Just need to ask something about the insurance for our bikes.

Another part of the Maasketting, beautiful stretch along the Maas with partially mown paths. Nice castle ruin near Batenburg. Another walk through Heerlijkheid Appeltern. At the end, a nice ice cream and back home.

It was supposed to stay dry, so we extended the Maasketting again. But this time on the Gelderland side, 90% on asphalt, which was also the intention because it had rained so much the last few days. But the part we walked over the floodplains was still quite dry.

May, many people walk to Sint Jan in Den Bosch in May. We started early at 6:30, we wanted to be home before the worst heat. We took the shortest route to Den Bosch. Lit a candle in Sint Jan for everyone who needs it. Rested a bit and then went across for coffee with a Bossche Bol. Via the tourist route

Hike surroundings Heesch over and through the Berkt estate, it takes some getting used to the temperature but it was lovely to walk. 90% of the hike is unpaved.

This morning by boat to Pella, just to have a look on the other side. We also had a nice walk there. With a closed hiking path again because a house is being built. So we adjusted our route. It started with sunshine and turned into rain, thunderstorms, and hail. We took shelter in the church for a while

Hike through the floodplains near Hellouw. Between showers, over small bridges and a boardwalk where sheep were walking. At the end there was a crossing to get into another meadow, at one point the sheep followed us. One sheep over the bridge and the rest follow, until they saw the cows...😄
