Historic high trail
The historical high path from Bendern to Schellenberg leads past the cradle of the State of Liechtenstein, slightly uphill we reach the prehistoric settlement areas Lutzengütle and Malanser.
Hikers can choose between the entire route and four well-signposted circular routes. The high trail, which was built in 1972-1975, runs on both sides over the entire ridge of the Eschnerberg and past archaeological and historical sites. The high trail is very well signposted. Information boards along the way report on archaeological sites, the history of the five Lower Land communities, field names and legends as well as natural history events. Each information board is provided with a QR code and a map, with which the hiker can find out the exact location.
The historical high path can be walked either in the entire length of 15 kilometers or in four sections from 3.1 to 8.2 kilometers. The hiking trail leads through the quiet forest, past prehistoric settlements and offers wonderful views of the Rhine Valley, the Rätikon mountains, the Alvier group and the Alpstein. The ascent of the Höhenweg has a special charm in every season.
