The parish church, which is dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul, can look back on a long history. Already at the end of the 18th century the question of building a new church arose in Mauren. The old church was very dilapidated and expected to collapse. In 1795 the pastor Lutz took the matter in hand. The petition was not refused, but it was postponed to more peaceful times, not least due to a lack of money. The demolition of the old church began on February 28, 1842, and the inauguration took place in 1846.

100 years later, in 1947/49, an interior renovation brought the condition we know before the major renovation in 1986/1988, headed by Dr. Georg Malin. The new liturgy, according to the constitutions of the Second Vatican Council of 1963, requires different arrangements in the organization of the churches than before. The emphasis on communion in the celebration of the Eucharist and the active participation of the faithful in the liturgy caused changes in the altar area. The relief with a sign of the cross in the background of the altar area is artistically a jewel.

The long parish history of Mauren has given us a number of valuable cultural assets that have found their place in the pretty parish church. We can proudly say that it is one of the most beautiful churches in our region. During the extensive renovation work, a real treasure trove surprisingly opened up under the bricklayer's church. "Bricklayer traces" of a nearly 2000 year old tradition on our church hill were uncovered.
