Peter Kaiser Bust, Moors
This monument is dedicated to the historian, educator and politician Peter Kaiser. In 1793 Peter Kaiser was born in Mauren. As the scion of a respected farming family, he was able to attend high school and study in Vienna and Freiburg im Breisgau. From 1819 Kaiser taught history and languages at various schools in Switzerland.
In 1847 Kaiser's main work "History of the Principality of Liechtenstein" was published. With this book he became the founder of Liechtenstein historical research. Since he was critical of princely absolutism, the book was initially prohibited from being distributed in Liechtenstein.
In the revolutionary year 1848, the liberal-minded emperor took over the presidency of the revolutionary state committee and worked out a draft constitution. At the end of April 1848 he was elected representative of Liechtenstein in the German National Assembly in Frankfurt. But already in autumn Kaiser resigned his mandate. He retired to Chur, where he was rector and teacher at the canton school. In 1864 he died in Chur.
