The suspension railway station Hauptbahnhof in the Elberfeld district is one of the most important stations on the Wuppertal suspension railway. It opens up the Elberfeld center and is named after the Wuppertal main station. It used to be called Döppersberg like the neighboring intersection, this name is still listed as an additional designation on the station signs. The stop is the busiest on the suspension railway as it is located at the city's main transport hub.
The suspension railway station is located in the center of Elberfeld and connects directly to the pedestrian zone in the direction of Elberfeld center. Opposite the suspension railway station on the other side of the Bundesallee (B 7) is the main train station and bus station.
In addition to the suspension railway station between the main train station and the Brausenwerther bridge, there was also Wuppertal's central bus station, the main train station, with which it formed the most important local transport hub in Wuppertal until the summer of 2014.

An interesting private fan page about the suspension railway - but also other railways and the trolleybus - can be found here: schwebebahn-wtal.deTo what extent this will be maintained / updated in the future I cannot say. But definitely worth a look for those interested.

The attraction in Wuppertal
our suspension railway is now more than 110 years old.
Of the more than 13 km that our suspension railway floats through the city, it follows the Wupper for a good 10 km, and that at an incredible 12 meters above sea level.
The 20 train stations are on average less than 1,000 meters apart, making the suspension railway a perfect means of transport in the narrow Wuppertal.
It transports around 85,000 passengers through Wuppertal every day.
The journey from Oberbarmen to Vohwinkel takes approximately
35 minutes.
A really great experience and a real highlight ..
