Klausdorf was founded around 1250 and was named after its founder, Nikolaus. The fact that many brickworks were built in Klausdorf gave the town economic importance. Around 1913 there were 4 brickworks in Klausdorf alone,
which produced up to 50 million bricks annually. These were then transported by rail
or by barge via the Notte Canal to Berlin and Hamburg.
Remains from this period include a still functioning brickworks with a typical ring kiln and the clay pits that are filled with water. These, the schoolroom in the former elementary school and the lido are popular destinations for visitors to Klausdorf.gemeinde-am-mellensee.de/verzeichnis/objekt.php?mandat=63706

This is a fine example of modern industrial architecture. The huge kiln is accessible, but a flashlight is mandatory, because there are all sorts of stuff in the oven and it is pitch dark.

Nice that the stove has been preserved. A visit is definitely worth it.
