At the panorama trail near Bad Belzig station - lined with tall pyramidal poplars - stands the Axis Mundi 2 (Axis of the World). The Axis Mundi, also called sky column, is a prototype in many cultures of this earth. It embodies the image of a pillar as the center and central axis of the world, permeating all levels of creation while linking the different spheres of creation.
The pillar becomes a sky ladder that connects lower and higher worlds, and that can also be used by gods and other beings of the heavens and the underworld to reach the earth.
Material: 4m high oak trunk, blackened by fire and varnished with paint.
