Germania is the club and boathouse of the Frankfurter Rudergesellschaft 1869 e. V. in Frankfurt am Main. The rowing boats are housed in the basement and a dining room with a large dining room is on the ground floor.
From the city center, Germania can be easily reached on foot via the Holbeinsteg.
The Frankfurter Rudergesellschaft Germania von 1869 e.V. is one of the oldest rowing clubs in Germany and with around 900 members also one of the largest. The clubhouse, which is prominently located in the heart of the city, is the focus of club life, which is divided into six groups: competitive rowers, recreational rowers, masters, women, old men and children. Whether training, regattas, hiking trips or social events from barbecues to balls - everyone interested in rowing will find something to their taste in Germania.
Since the mid-1970s, there has been a close collaboration with the Commerzbank sports community, which has enriched the hustle and bustle in the clubhouse with a few sports and has rented the premises from the first floor. Thanks to the support of Commerzbank, a heated boat hall for approx. 110 boats, a multi-purpose hall for sports and festive events, an approx. 200 square meter fitness room with modern strength equipment and a rowing pool were created through additions and renovations in 2002. The boathouse and changing rooms were renovated and a sauna was installed. In the historic hall with the portraits of the legendary Achilles Wild, who won the first German championship in 1882, and other personalities from Germania, trophies from the early days of rowing can be seen.

The club is traditionally frequented by Frankfurt's upper class. Wilhelm Merton, Johann Philipp Holzmann, and Franz Oppenheimer were among its members. Until his death on October 18, 2017, the lawyer and manager Walther von Wietzlow[2] served as chairman. In 2002, the club used donations to finance an extensive modernization and expansion of the prestigious boathouse on Holbeinstrasse, opposite the Städel Museum.

Since the 1970s, the club has collaborated with Dresdner Bank. Commerzbank now rents the space on the first floor of the boathouse and leases the catering facilities there for its employees and club members.

The Frankfurt Rowing Club Germania has always been one of the most successful rowing clubs in the region. Germania has also become increasingly involved in training talented rowers. Through close cooperation with the school rowing center, the club has achieved great success in the junior division in recent years. Among other things, the Peter Velten Memorial Prize of the German Rowing Association was won in 2010, which is awarded for the best youth work in the association.[3] The Frankfurt Rowing Club Germania is a base club of the Federal Youth Base Frankfurt/Mainz.
