If you drive from Rhauderfehn in the direction of Holte along the canal (which later flows into the Leda), you come to Osterhörner Straße after a short distance through the small town of Rhaude, where you will find this former fortified church from the 14th century. The red brick building, crooked and crooked as usual in East Friesland, impresses with its separate tower and beautiful archway. The cemetery is laid out around the church on the terp. The hall church was originally Gothic in design, but was brought down during the Thirty Years' War for strategic military reasons. With the later confession of the local Friesian chief to the Lutheran faith, the church also became Lutheran.
