This section of the route is part of the first part of the Ostfriesland hiking trail from Rhauderfehn via Leer and Aurich to the coast. With its untouched ground, it is easy to ride as a single trail and is a nice alternative to the B 438, which runs parallel.

More about the East Friesland hiking trail:
At almost 97 kilometers, the hiking trail is the oldest and longest hiking trail in East Friesland. It starts just behind the Hoffnungskirche in Rhauderfehn and takes us via Ihrhove and Leer via Aurich to Bensersiel.
In part, the hiking trail runs over old small train tracks and is usually a tree-lined forest path, like here, occasionally paved. On the way you will also find sculptures that make the Ostfrieslandwanderweg even more interesting.
