In the middle of the outer bailey is one of the most important buildings of the castle complex, the well house with the deep well. The »Tiefen Brunnen« probably originated with the first buildings of the Kaiserburg, as a castle without an autonomous, protected water supply - especially in the case of a siege - is inconceivable.
