It is located in the area of the urban district of Stuttgart-Vaihingen, directly next to the interchange Stuttgart. The Bernhartshöhe is the highest elevation in the urban area of Stuttgart. However, it is not a natural mountain, but was piled up in the 1970s with material from tunneling for the Stuttgart rail traffic.
