A steeple without a church? The church of St. Blasius von Aspach was first mentioned in documents in 1215. Residents from the surrounding parishes and farms had to come here to attend services. The dead were also buried here at the Aschbacherhof. During the Reformation it was the first Lutheran church in the Palatinate and thus gained great importance,

Later, people from the parishes built their own church and stopped coming here. The church fell into disrepair and the stones were taken away to build the house. The tower has remained standing to this day.

"The tower at the Aschbacherhof once served as the churchyard of St. Blaise's Church in Aspach. A defensive tower probably stood on this site as early as the Salian and Frankish periods. This defensive tower was likely added to the later-built St. Blaise's Church and used as a church tower. The church was first documented in 1215. It was the parish seat of the Wilenstein lordship, whose castle of the same name now stands in ruins just 4 km further south.

During the Reformation (1517-1648), the Aschbach Church was the first church in the Palatinate region to hold Lutheran services, thus giving it great importance. The inscription on the Ritterstein (Knight's Stone) refers to the change in church affiliation from Catholic to Lutheran [see separate highlight]. Due to its poor structural condition, the church fell into disrepair at the end of the 18th century, and only the tower remained [today: private property]." Today, this former church tower is privately owned and beautifully restored. It is located on the European "Star Trail" (Chemin des étoiles), or the Way of St. James. A corresponding information panel is located on the fence, and in front of it (on the ground) is a stone scallop shell as a waymarker. Further information on the "Star Trail": sternenweg.net

The building in which the inn was green was built in 1899 with stones from a quarry located to the north.
