The facility was built by Freiherr Carl von Gienanth around 1842. The Freiherr felt close to nature and wanted to bring nature closer to the citizens of the surrounding communities.
But even for "high" visit the Amseldell was a resort. In 1858 and 1862, the Bavarian King Ludwig I visited the Amseldell. The small detour from the Karlstal gorge is recommended, as the park is still recognizable.
