On the small area of the Aegidienviertel there are Lessing / Nathan the Wise in rarely high concentration: next to the Aegidienkirche just around the corner the synagogue, in between the opulent-grandiose lodge house with u.a. three Masonic lodges of different "types of teaching", nearby also a mosque. A stone's throw away is even the purgatory ... ok, that's the name of a street in the nearby cathedral district. In short: this area is always worth a visit ...

St. Aegidien is the smallest of the five large old town churches and is adorned with Gothic wall paintings and elements from the Baroque and Renaissance periods.
It is really worth visiting the church from the inside as well.It is located in the center of the former district of craftsmen and farmers on the eastern slope of the inner city hill in the direction of Wakenitz.Today's three-aisled hall church dates from the first third of the 14th century. St. Aegidien is magnificently furnished with Gothic wall paintings and elements from the Baroque and Renaissance periods and numerous art treasures. A special attraction is the carved singing choir (1587) by Tönnies Evers the Younger and the Gothic wall paintings in the choir and in the tower hall.luebeck-tourismus.de/erkunden/hnenswuerdigungen/kirchen/st-aegidien.html
