Best Hikes to Ramstein Castle Ruins

Tips

  • The Ramstein ruin is a hilltop castle on a wooded ridge at 688 meters above sea level in the valley of the upper Schiltach and was built before 1137. It was the eponymous political center of the Lords of Ramstein, which emerged from the Lords of Oberschach. This line died out around 1280, after which their rule passed to the lords of Falkenstein-Ramstein.

  • A ruin with a great view of the upper Berneck. A trail leads down to the Berneckal valley, only for sure-footed people.

  • The ruin itself is not worth mentioning, but the view is really awesome and invites you to linger
