Tallinn City Wall

A large part of the old city fortifications has been preserved, simply fantastic.

Very impressive facility. Partly walkable.

The extremely impressive city wall is almost completely preserved. After it was given its final form in the 15th century, it was 2.4 km long. 45 defense and gate towers reinforced the defensive power. The wall was 13 to 16 meters high. The towers had four floors and were up to 22 meters high.
The cannon tower "Kiek in de Kök" (Look into the kitchen) with 6 floors is noteworthy. It stands outside the walls and was built around 1475 as a flanking tower.
The Great Beach Gate with the gun tower "Fat Margarethe" is also worth mentioning. In comparison to the "Kiek in de Kök", it is much wider and demonstrates the development of defense technology from the 15th to the 16th century.
