The St. Jakobi church houses the wreckage of a lifeboat of the 1957 sunken Pamir. Since 21.09.2007 the place in the church is at the same time national memorial place for the civilian seafaring.

St. Jakobi is one of the five historic inner city churches. It is the Church of the Seafarers and is now home to the National Memorial for Civil Seafaring.
In the Pamir Chapel of the Jacobi Church, the Pamir's lifeboat commemorates the accident that only six survivors had and at the same time serves as a national memorial for civilian seafaring.
