The Luther House is one of the oldest half-timbered houses in Thuringia. Luther supposedly lived here as a student from 1498 to 1501. Completely renovated between 2013 and 2015. The museum contains the permanent exhibition "Luther and the Bible."

LUTHER IN EISENACH Martin Luther grew up in Mansfeld, but he spent the most important years of his schooling in Eisenach: From 1498 to 1501 he attended the Latin school in St. Georgen to prepare for his studies at the University of Erfurt. Luther's schooling was one of the most formative and happiest years of his youth. Later he fondly remembered his stay in his "beloved city". Years later, Luther made world history in Eisenach: In just eleven weeks he translated the New Testament at the Wartburg - and in doing so not only created a bestseller, but also laid the foundation for the German written language.
