The Landgrafen Gorge is very nice to look at

The Landgrafenschlucht is also very attractive and can be easily connected as a circular route with the Drachenschlucht.

Drachenschlucht up Landgrafenschlucht down - ideal hike. I would create the two gorges as one-way streets anyway - not just because of Corona ...

The Landgrafenschlucht can be hiked through the gorge from the Hohe Sonne or the Grosser Drachenstein. Some places are narrow and quite muddy. You should therefore wear sturdy shoes and good clothing. The gorge itself offers a beautiful panorama of rock and greenery. You should just go through it.
I recommend the circular hike at the Hohe Sonne car park (free of charge) through the Langgrafen Gorge down and up the Drachenschlucht, then a leisurely finish at the Hohe Sonne Grill.

You can also hike along the Dornheckenweg -Herzogseiche-Weinstrasse-Hohe Sonne-Drachenschlucht-Eisenach Mariental. A moderately difficult tour.

Wildly romantic and not as touristy as the better-known big sister across the street and therefore much nicer !!!!

The Landgrafenschlucht is a slightly wider gorge than the Drachenschlucht, but it is also very beautiful and interesting. In some places it becomes wildly romantic. The only thing that bothered us are the legacies of "hobby hikers" who simply drop their dirt, whether candy wrappers, power bar wrappers or even lately mouth and nose covering in the forest ... To these subhumans the hint that people still want after you walk and enjoy these paths!

The Landgrafen Gorge was developed and made accessible by employees of the Society for Job Promotion, Employment and Structural Development as part of job creation measures from 1992-1997 with funds from the Federal Employment Agency.
This has resulted in an attractive hiking trail from the Mariental to the Weinstrasse.(...from the information board)

I say hat 🎩 off! An outstanding work performance by the people who opened up the gorge at the time and built the paths and bridges. I was not aware of this until now. Many thanks for that!

Things are a little quieter here than in the Drachenschlucht

Nice that the Landgrafenschlucht is now a little public.

The Landgrafenschlucht with its unspoilt rock formations can be easily combined with the route through the Drachenschlucht.

Please don't forget the Landgrafenschlucht ☝🏻
It is in the immediate vicinity and is no less worth seeing. From Eisenach through the Landgrafenschlucht, then on through the Drachenschlucht to the Wartburg. And then back to town. A really cool tour 🤭

Absolute recommendation! In combination with the Drachenschlucht, it is also good to walk with children. Sturdy and preferably waterproof shoes are recommended, as parts of the trail are flooded after heavy rainfall. A fascinating and varied landscape!
    Less frequented than the Drachenschlucht.

The Landgrafenschlucht is also worth seeing. Not quite as "dramatic" as Drachenschlucht, but a nice addition to it.

The Landgrafenschlucht and Drachenschlucht can be combined very well. You can also commit both in the other direction, which is done by the majority.

The Landgrafenschlucht is a very beautiful gorge. Below it is quite wide and lined on both sides with rock faces, which are beautifully green with moss due to the humid air. A small stream meanders alongside the path. Higher up in the gorge it gets much narrower. The Landgrafenschlucht can be easily connected to the Drachenschlucht.
    My advice:
First run the Landgrafenschlucht and then the Drachenschlucht as it is not quite as spectacular as the Drachenschlucht. Otherwise you will be disappointed by the Landgrafenschlucht. And: It's better to do the tour during the week, because then it's not as busy as on the weekend!

Very idyllic and less visited than the Drachenschlucht. We first walked down from the Hohe Sonne through the Drachenschlucht and then up through the Landgrafenschlucht via the Großer Drachenstein. Since the path is quite steep, I would recommend walking it the other way around, as the drama of the Drachenschlucht distracts from the effort. 😉

The stream has washed deep into the rock here.
    Little water is currently flowing.
If it were foggy, we might see trolls here.
