The fraternity monument was built between 1900 and 1902 under the responsibility of the Eisenach master mason Gustav Stein. The 33-meter-high monument, which is dedicated to the students who died in the anti-Napoleonic wars of liberation, was ceremoniously opened on May 22, 1902.

The fraternity memorial in the south of Eisenach on the Göpelskuppe is the war memorial for the 87 fraternity members who died in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. It was erected in 1902 as a national monument of the German fraternity to commemorate the unification of the Reich.
