Hamburg's hip scene district has a charm of its own with many small boutiques, restaurants, cafés and a party mile.
The Schanzenviertel is a Hamburg old building district southwest of the Sternschanzenpark. It is framed partly by the slaughterhouse, Stresemannstraße and Max-Brauer-Allee, which turns into Altonaer Straße. Until the year 2008, the district belonged to the Hamburg districts of Altona, Mitte and Eimsbüttel and only then became an independent district with the name Sternschanze. Within easy reach are the Karoviertel, the exhibition halls and the Heiligengeistfeld. The Reeperbahn, the Michel and the park Planten un Blomen are still within walking distance. In the last few years, the district has received many respected upgrades and house renovations have occurred. Meanwhile, rents rose and a not uncontroversial repression of the previous residents began.
The streets of Schulterblatt, Schanzenstraße, Susannenstraße and Bartelsstraße form the center of the pop-cultural district, whose trendy record shops and boutiques invite you to browse, pubs and cozy cafés to linger. Many local partygoers appreciate the special atmosphere of the hill, as it is also known in the vernacular, away from the heavily used tourist Reeperbahn.

The Lokmam wants to present its interpretation of Turkish cuisine with its colorful variety. The focus is on quality first and foremost. A selection of excellent meze, traditional charcoal grill and pide baked in a traditional wood-burning oven, and baklava from the patisserie - after more than a year of refurbishment, the Lokmam in Susannenstraße in the ski jump presents itself in a whole new splendor.lokmam.de

For me, a visit to Hamburg is always from St. Pauli and a stroll in Schanzenviertel. A lucky bag from alternative shops. Some are cool, some interesting, some hip and somehow over the top, but the mix is awesome.

In this neighborhood, "being different" is simply a must. Colored and strange!

If you like graffiti, this is the place for you. There is almost nothing without color. And worth seeing are most all times.
