Replica of a watchtower of the Eppinger Lines. The Eppinger lines were a fortified line of defense that stretched from Weißenstein near Pforzheim via Mühlacker, Sternenfels and Eppingen to Neckargemünd. It had a total length of 86 km. The Eppinger lines were built in the years 1695 to 1697 under the margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden, also known as "Türkenlouis", in order to prevent French raids in the Palatinate War of Succession (1688-1697).

The impressive and large Chartaque watchtower is located not far from the hiking car park. It is worth climbing the steps and enjoying the view from above. It is a great project that was built here by students in 1981-1983.

Reconstruction of a watchtower of the Eppinger Line. The tower was built by the local secondary school in the 1980s. Respect!!! We built other things at school back then ...
