Tips
The builders of the medieval defence system built a roundabout at the crossing over the outer moat. They wanted to visually balance out the difference in direction between the extension of the Große Kremper Straße and the stone dam that led from Krempe to Glückstadt. Today, an obelisk erected in 1992 stands on the roundabout in honour of the town's founder, the Danish King Christian IV (as indicated by engraving C4).
